About Us

Empowering Excellence in Sports and Exercise Physiotherapy

The Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Sports and Exercise Medicine (ACPSEM), operating as Physios in Sport, is the UK's leading professional network dedicated to advancing physiotherapy in sports, exercise, and performing arts. As an official Professional Network of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP), we support our members in delivering exceptional care, enhancing performance, and promoting lifelong health through movement.

Our Mission

Our mission is to elevate the standards of sports and exercise physiotherapy by:

  • Providing comprehensive education and continuous professional development (CPD) opportunities.
  • Fostering a collaborative community for knowledge sharing and experiential learning.
  • Advocating for the profession within national and international health and sports organisations.

We are committed to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion across all facets of our work, reflecting the diverse communities we serve.

Our History

Established in 1973 as the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Sports Medicine, we expanded our scope to include exercise medicine, aligning with the evolving practices of our members. Now known as Physios in Sport, we have grown into a dynamic network of over 1,000 professionals, including physiotherapists in sports, exercise, and performing arts.

What We Offer

CPD Pathway

Our internationally recognized CPD Pathway, developed in collaboration with UK Sport, the British Olympic Association, and various National Governing Bodies, provides a structured framework for professional development. Aligned with the International Federation of Sports Physical Therapy (IFSPT) competencies, it offers Bronze, Silver, and Gold accreditation levels, enhancing professional credibility and career progression.

Mentoring and Shadowing

We facilitate mentoring and shadowing opportunities, enabling members to gain hands-on experience and insights from seasoned professionals. These programs are integral to our CPD Pathway, fostering practical learning and professional growth.
